What is the X Card Generator?

The X Card Generator creates HTML meta elements using the established twitter:* property names. It supports Summary, Summary with Large Image, App, and Player card modes. Each mode exposes only its relevant fields and produces one exact tag preview from the current form state.

The visual card is a generic browser-side simulation, not a request to X and not a guarantee of the final platform layout. X and other clients can cache page metadata, choose fallbacks, crop media, truncate text, or change presentation. Publish the tags in the page head and verify the public URL in the real sharing workflow.

How to create and audit X Card tags

  1. Choose Summary for a compact visual, Large image for a wide visual, App for store identifiers and custom app links, or Player for an HTTPS embedded media experience.
  2. Add a page-specific title and description. Summary and Player modes require an absolute card image URL; add meaningful image alternative text so the visual is not the only source of information.
  3. Use @site and @creator only for valid account handles. App mode needs a display name plus at least one iPhone, iPad, or Google Play identifier. A platform custom URL is included only with its matching identifier.
  4. For Player mode, enter an HTTPS iframe URL and positive whole-number width and height. A direct HTTPS media stream and its MIME type are optional and should describe the same playable media.
  5. Keep Open Graph fallback enabled when the page should also expose synchronized og:type, URL, title, description, and image fields. Review every blocking error and practical warning before publishing.
  6. Generate the final state, compare the Tags and Copy previews, then use Copy card tags. The first valid copy uses the existing one-time rating flow and automatically copies the exact visible escaped HTML.

Benefits of this X Card workflow

  • Switch among Summary, Summary with Large Image, App, and Player without editing a raw key-value template.
  • Show only the platform identifiers or player fields relevant to the selected card mode and validate them before Copy is allowed.
  • Escape ampersands, angle brackets, quotes, and apostrophes in every generated HTML attribute value.
  • Generate optional Open Graph fallback metadata from the same title, description, URL, image, and image alternative used by the card.
  • Preview compact, wide, app-install, and player layouts while clearly identifying the card as a generic simulation rather than a live X response.
  • Keep Tags, Copy preview, tool output handoff, audit totals, and rating-gated clipboard text synchronized with one exact browser-side state.

X Card Generator FAQ

Why do the generated properties still start with twitter:?

Twitter Card markup uses the established twitter:* meta names. The product brand may be X, but changing those property names to x:* would not create equivalent card metadata.

Is the preview the exact card that X will display?

No. It is a generic browser-side simulation for visual QA. X can fetch, cache, crop, truncate, choose fallbacks, or change presentation. Verify the published public URL through the real platform workflow.

What is the difference between Summary and Large image?

Summary is represented as a compact card with a smaller visual area. Summary with Large Image emphasizes a wide image. The final client layout can still vary.

What does an App card require?

This generator requires an app display name and at least one iPhone, iPad, or Google Play identifier. A platform custom URL is valid only when its matching identifier is also present.

Why must the Player URL use HTTPS?

Embedded player content should use a secure iframe URL. The generator blocks a non-HTTPS player or direct stream URL and requires positive width and height values.

Should I include Open Graph fallback tags?

They are useful when the page also needs broadly understood social metadata. The toggle adds synchronized Open Graph values only when the related form values are available.

Does the tool upload or fetch my page?

No. The form, validation, preview, tag generation, and copy workflow run in the browser. Remote image loading by the preview depends on the supplied image host and its browser access policy.

Why is there no Download button?

The exact HTML is available through one dependable Copy card tags action. The existing one-time rating gate runs before the first valid copy on that browser.
