What is the SERP Snippet Preview?

The SERP Snippet Preview is a browser-side visual QA workstation for an HTML title, meta description, canonical URL, favicon, site name, optional date display, robots directives, and an optional aggregate rating line. It estimates title width and description lines for desktop and mobile instead of presenting a fixed character count as a Google rule.

When review preview is enabled, the stars are backed by synchronized SoftwareApplication and AggregateRating JSON-LD containing a specific app name, rating value, rating count, offer price, app category, and operating system. The rating and count must be genuine, collected on this site, and visibly available to users on the marked-up page. Valid structured data only creates eligibility; Google can choose not to show a rich result or can render it differently.

How to preview and audit a search snippet

  1. Choose Manual metadata to draft a page or Fetch public URL to inspect HTML that is already accessible. A fetched page does not automatically enable review stars because the fetcher does not infer genuine visible rating content or validate page-level JSON-LD eligibility.
  2. Enter a concise HTML title, absolute canonical URL, optional site name and favicon, and a useful meta description. Switch between Desktop and Mobile and treat pixel and line values as practical estimates only.
  3. To show a star line like 4.6 and 353 ratings, enable Review rich-result preview. Enter the exact software or app name, a genuine average from 1 through 5, a positive total rating count, a supported application category, operating system, and offer price. Use zero for a free app and add a three-letter currency when the price is greater than zero.
  4. Confirm that the aggregate rating and count are visibly shown on the same public page and are collected directly on this site. Do not copy ratings from another website. Validate the published JSON-LD with the Google Rich Results Test and do not assume that technically valid data guarantees stars.
  5. Review index, follow, nosnippet, and max-snippet controls, fix blocking errors, then compare the Head tags and Copy previews. The first valid copy uses the existing one-time rating flow and copies the exact escaped head tags plus JSON-LD.

Benefits of this SERP preview workflow

  • Compare desktop and mobile result layouts from one synchronized metadata state.
  • Render an optional aggregate rating line with a decimal value, five visually filled stars, and the visible rating count.
  • Generate matching SoftwareApplication, AggregateRating, and Offer JSON-LD with required validation instead of showing disconnected decorative stars.
  • Disable review preview automatically after public URL fetching so missing rating data is never fabricated from ordinary meta tags.
  • Reflect index, noindex, follow, nofollow, nosnippet, and max-snippet choices in both the audit and exact robots meta output.
  • Keep the generic preview, audit totals, head tags, JSON-LD, tool output handoff, and rating-gated clipboard text synchronized.

SERP Snippet Preview FAQ

Will the review stars look like the reference image?

The generic preview shows a decimal value, five stars including fractional fill, and a rating count beneath the description. The real Google layout, color, labels, truncation, or availability can differ.

Does adding AggregateRating guarantee stars in Google?

No. Valid structured data makes eligible content understandable, but Google does not guarantee a rich result. Validate the published page with the Rich Results Test and monitor Search Console.

Which schema does the tool generate?

The optional feature generates SoftwareApplication JSON-LD with a nested AggregateRating and Offer. The app name and price are required for Software App rich-result eligibility, and the rating needs a genuine positive count.

Can I enter ratings copied from another website?

No. Google review-snippet guidance says not to aggregate reviews or ratings from other websites. The marked-up rating must be visibly available to users on the page and sourced directly from users on this site.

Why is rating preview disabled after Fetch public URL?

Ordinary page metadata does not prove that genuine ratings are visible or that valid review structured data exists. The tool therefore imports the title, description, canonical, favicon, site name, and robots settings without inventing a rating.

What values are valid for the average and count?

The average must be from 1 through 5 and may use a decimal point. Rating count must be a positive whole number. The generated JSON-LD declares bestRating 5 and worstRating 1.

Why does the tool ask for an app price?

Google SoftwareApplication guidance requires offers.price. Enter zero when the browser tool or app is free. A three-letter currency is required by this tool when the price is greater than zero.

Is 60 characters a Google title limit?

No. Google states that a title element has no length limit and title links are truncated as needed, typically to fit the device width. The pixel value is only a visual estimate.

Will Google display exactly this title and description?

No. Google can generate a title link and snippet from multiple page signals, vary the snippet by query, and change the visible layout or truncation by device.

Why is there no Download button?

The exact head tags and optional review JSON-LD are available through one dependable Copy action. The existing one-time rating gate runs before the first valid copy on that browser.
