What is the YouTube Tags Extractor?

This tool checks a public YouTube video's watch-page metadata and displays the creator-supplied tags YouTube exposes. It never turns words from a title into fake extracted tags. When a video does not expose tags, the result says so clearly.

A separate Generate Ideas mode creates suggestions from a title and description you provide. Those suggestions are always labelled as generated ideas, so you can distinguish them from tags attached to another video.

How to extract and copy YouTube tags

  1. Paste a public YouTube watch, youtu.be, Shorts, live, embed, Music link, or an 11-character video ID.
  2. Choose Extract Public Tags. The tool fetches the video's public metadata and shows its title, channel, and exposed tags.
  3. Search the result, change the sort order, or click individual tags to include or exclude them.
  4. Choose comma-separated or one-per-line format, then copy the selected tags.
  5. Export the selected result as TXT, CSV, or JSON when you need a reusable file.

A more trustworthy YouTube tag workflow

  • Separates real creator-supplied public tags from locally generated tag ideas.
  • Supports the common YouTube URL formats used for videos, Shorts, live streams, embeds, and share links.
  • Preserves the video's original tag order while also offering alphabetical and length sorting.
  • Shows selected tag count and an estimated YouTube tag-property character total.
  • Keeps filtering, selection, copy, and every export format in one shared result state.

YouTube tags extractor FAQ

Are the extracted tags real?

Extract mode returns only the keywords present in YouTube's public player metadata. Generate Ideas mode is separate and clearly identifies its results as suggestions.

Why does a public video show no tags?

A creator may not have added tags, or YouTube may not expose them for that video. The tool does not guess missing tags or mislabel title words as extracted metadata.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts and live streams?

Yes. Public Shorts and live URLs use the same video ID and can be checked when their watch-page metadata is available.

What does the 500-character indicator mean?

YouTube documents a 500-character maximum for the tags property. Commas count, and tags containing spaces use extra quote characters in that calculation. The indicator is an estimate for the currently selected tags.

Do I need a YouTube API key?

No. The extractor reads only metadata exposed on the public video page and does not ask for your channel credentials or an API key.
