Dynamic or full-page captures can take several seconds.Screenshot not generated
The preview, copied image, and download all use this same generated file. No reconstructed or simulated preview is used.
What is the Website Screenshot Generator?
The Website Screenshot Generator loads a public URL in a server-side Chromium browser and returns the rendered page as an image. Unlike an iframe preview, it can capture the complete scrollable page, JavaScript-rendered content, or only the selected browser viewport.
Use the device presets for repeatable responsive QA, choose custom dimensions for a specific layout, and add a short delay when a page needs time for fonts, animations, or dynamic sections. The visible preview and downloaded file come from the same generated image blob.
How to capture a website screenshot
- Enter a public HTTP or HTTPS website URL. Localhost, private networks, credentials, IP addresses, and non-standard ports are blocked.
- Choose Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile, or Custom and confirm the viewport dimensions.
- Select Full page to capture the scrollable document or Viewport for the visible browser area.
- Choose PNG for crisp lossless output or JPG for a smaller file, then adjust delay and advanced rendering options if needed.
- Capture the page, inspect the exact image and metadata, then copy the image or download the same generated file.
Why use this browser-based screenshot tool?
- Renders public pages in Chromium instead of returning a text plan or simulated preview.
- Includes practical desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile, and bounded custom viewport sizes.
- Warms full pages to help lazy-loaded sections appear before the image is created.
- Supports 1x and 2x device scale with pixel, height, host, timeout, and output-size safety limits.
- Does not save captures on the server; the response is held in the current browser tab for preview, copy, and download.
Website Screenshot Generator FAQ
Can it capture an entire scrolling webpage?
Yes. Full page mode captures the rendered scrollable document up to a 20,000 CSS-pixel safety limit. Very tall or high-resolution pages should use 1x scale, a narrower viewport, or viewport mode.
Why does a screenshot differ from my personal browser?
The capture uses a fresh Chromium session without your cookies, account, extensions, local fonts, location, or saved preferences. Responsive layout, consent screens, experiments, and bot protection can therefore differ.
Which image format should I choose?
PNG is lossless and keeps interface text and sharp edges crisp. JPG usually creates a smaller file and is useful for photo-heavy pages; its quality control is available when JPG is selected.
Can I capture private dashboards or localhost?
No. This public tool deliberately blocks credentials, localhost, private and reserved networks, direct IP targets, non-HTTP schemes, and non-standard ports to protect server-side network access.
Why can a public website fail to capture?
The site may be offline, too slow, taller than the safety limit, returning an unusually large image, or actively blocking automated browsers. A deployment also needs the Chromium binary that matches its installed Playwright version.
